There are many different mechanics and maneuvers that are very difficult to pull off in the training area let alone in an actual match. One of those insanely difficult maneuvers is called “Ceiling Shot.” This shot has been something that really just came into the Rocket League scene maybe a year ago or so. It’s relatively new but it is so effective. It is no simple thing that can be done with ease, it takes many hours practicing in order for it to be perfected. Even when you have the mechanics down and can read the ball it is now a matter of being consistent. But, how exactly does one be able to do it?

The first thing that you want to do in order to perfect the “Ceiling Shot” is to go to “Free Play” training area so that you are able to navigate around with the ball and warm up. Here is where you will be able to familiarize yourself with your car and be able to learn how to control it for the shot itself.

The first thing you want to do is have your car and drive it up the wall and nothing more. As you keep driving up the wall you will begin to get used to how it feels when you are driving on the wall. By doing this at a constant rate you will see how it will be when you are actually upside down on the ceiling. This is the first step to completing the “Ceiling Shot.”

Once you are used to driving up the wall and are now consistent with it then you can head onto the next step of the shot. This step consist of you driving up the wall, as you previously were doing, but now you go on the ceiling in which you can temporarily drive one until you fall. Now that you are able to do both of those steps together in a continuous pattern then you are ready to move onto the final step of the shot.

The very last part of the “Ceiling Shot” is basically falling from the ceiling, but while you are falling you want to dodge straight into the ball. As you dodge into the ball you want to make sure that you are just a little bit under it because then you will fool your opponent into thinking you can’t hit the ball when in reality you’re actually going to score.

The first time that someone had scored the “Ceiling Shot” during a professional match was really amazing and new. The person who scored this goes by the name “Squishy Muffinz” and he scored it at a very important moment in the game. He really impressed everyone that day and in fact that made everyone want to do the same thing. Ever since that day so many other players have gone onto scoring those type of goals in professional games or just casual games. It was truly wonderful.

What is it about Rocket League that makes this game so entertaining and not get easily boring? Well it’s simple, people like cars and people like and soccer. When both of these things are combined it can be very weird and not work out so well. In the case of Rocket League though the developers got it right and it actually works very smoothly. There are so many people that actually play this game so much and do not get bored of it at all. I am one of those people, I can play it for a very long time and not get bored of it. That is because each match only lasts 5 minutes. So the game basically kind of restarts every five minutes, it’s as if you get a fresh start.

What also makes this game not so boring is the different types of game modes that there are waiting for you to choose them. Amongst these are the “Ranked” or “Competitive” modes where you play for money or just to be put into different ranks with people who are around the same skill level as you. On the picture above you can see the variety or ranks in the game and also the average amount of player in each rank. Most of the players who play “Competitive” are around “Gold II” and “Platinum II.” Trying to get better at the game and just getting out of the lower ranks also make this game not boring. That is because you are constantly trying to improve your skills in the game and seeing other people get better just motivate you to do the same thing.

Having your friends play this game with you makes a HUGE difference in making this game not boring as well. When you get your squad to get on and start Rocket League, invite to party chat then it’s all about just having fun now. When you get on and start playing with your friends nothing in the world matters anymore and the game is not boring at all. When you score a goal and it was a very nice one you get that feeling that you can do anything in the world and your friends start to hype you up. You are no longer bored of the game because you want to score another goal and want your friends to hype you up. This game really makes you want to bring out the best in you and want to out play your opponent which makes this game less boring. People are usually very toxic in this game so that makes it very entertaining too because you want to talk trash to your opponents and make them feel bad for talking trash first. Doing the training packs that are in the main menu also help you not get bored because you are improving your skill. Overall if you have friends to play with then you definitely won’t be bored.

The regular season of Rocket League consists of each team either playing once or twice every week. Everyone plays 9 games no matter what, at the end of the ten games the top 6 teams on the table will move onto what is call the North America Regional Championship. First and second seed will get a bye and head straight into the semi finals. Third and fourth will be playing each other in a quarter final. The winner from there is going to move on the bracket and play against the second place team that went straight into semi-finals. The loser from those quarter finals isn’t out yet because they have two lives. They head down to the lower bracket and will face against the winner fifth and sixth. From there they head in to the semi-finals to face the first place team. From here on out the teams that win in a best of 7 will face each other in the grand final to compete for best team in North America.

This season, Season 9, the number one seed was SPACESTATION GAMING, the number two seed was G2 ESPORTS. These two teams throughout the entire season were extremely dominant when they were out on the pitch against other teams. SPACESTATION GAMING with a commanding 8-1 record. Losing only to the number 3 seed SONIQS. That loss came early in the season, but after that there was no turning back they stepped on the gas and would not let off. For G2 ESPORTS they started as the hottest team in North America by being 5-0 and only undefeated team. They lost to GHOST GAMING, NRG ESPORTS, and SPACESTATION GAMING. G2 were able to fix their mistakes and adjust so that they could be ready for the Regional Championship.

Heading into the Regional Championship it was SONIQS vs NRG ESPORTS. NRG ESPORTS have historically been so consistently good and have been the best North American team for the past 4-5 seasons. They completely dominated SONIQS and swept them winning 4 consecutive games. That meant that they would move on in the bracket and face against G2 ESPORTS. This is a series that everyone wanted to watch because G2’s offense is the best in the game, they are ruthless and always hungry for more while having an amazing defense as well. NRG are the exact same as them, amazing offense and amazing defense. These two teams battled it out and had to go to game 7 to decide the winner, in the end G2 ESPORTS won and moved on to play in the final.

In the lower bracket it was Cloud 9 vs GHOST GAMING and in this series GHOST dominated Cloud 9 and went on to play against SONIQS in the lower bracket quarter-finals. GHOST kept their dominant form and smacked SONIQS. They moved on and had to face the number 1 team, SPACESTATION. GHOST could not keep up with SPACESTATION and got swept in the semi-finals. Now it was time for the grand final between G2 ESPORTS and SPACESTATION GAMING. The two best teams in North America facing off to see who will be crowned North America Champion. Everyone though that this would be a very close series and perhaps maybe even go to game 7. G2 ESPORTS came out swinging and were completely unstoppable, they swept SPACESTATION in 4 games. G2 are the best team in North America and it is well deserved.

Just as in soccer games the players don’t only play in the same stadium every time. The teams go to other places and play at the home of the other teams. That is called an away game and when they play in their stadium its called a home game. The thing is that with an actual soccer team they go and play many games at many different stadiums. In Rocket League there are at least 10 different stadiums that you can play in. There are 3 stadiums though that are the best to play in because of the scenery and basic look.

The first of the three stadiums is called “DFH Stadium.” This is honestly probably the cleanest looking stadium in the game. It is the most basic thing that you need. You have the two goals and two sides of the pitch and then the crowd around you trying to have fun and watch the game. It’s the most simple stadium and yet you don’t really need a flashy one to play in. This stadium is the one that is used to play the first game of every Rocket League Championship Series match. It has kind of become the iconic Rocket League stadium because it is on every picture of the game. It has become one of my personal favorites.

The second stadium that is very well liked in the game is called “Mannfield.” This stadium looks a lot like the “DFH Stadium” but it kind of has some differences is that on this one the crowd is actually surrounding the stadium. The crowd is actually there to enjoy the game rather than looking at it through the big screen as it happens in actual sporting events. This is also one of the most simple stadiums in the game as well but it gets the job done. People don’t really want to play in stadiums where the surroundings will distract you from playing the game. You want to concentrate the most on playing the game rather than seeing a streaking fan in the bleachers have you miss your shot.

Probably the best stadium in the entire game, the “Champions Field.” This stadium is the one that is used when the entire championship is on the line. Game 5 or 7 of the Rocket League Championship Series. When you play in this stadium you feel like you are a champion. The crowd around you is so hyped and cheers on the teams. There is even an announcer who is narrating the entire game and also gets so hyped with the crowd. It truly is an experience that a Rocket League player has to go through. In this stadium there are banners that are hanging that have the winners or every Rocket League Championship. From Season 1-9 the names of the winners will always be hanging for everyone to see.

These are the best stadiums to play in when you play Rocket League. They are very simple but very effective because you won’t be distracted from your surroundings.

When you are playing Rocket League you can’t just simply be going for the ball at all times. It’s like playing soccer, every player on the pitch has a role that they are playing. In the game there are three players so then that means one focuses the most on being an attacker, another plays in the midfield to try to have control while that last person stays behind and plays defense or goalie. Although the 3 players do not play the same position in Rocket League the entire game.

When playing 3v3 you have to know when to “rotate” meaning that you have to know when it is your turn to back off from offense and defend or vice versa. When your team is defending one person is always challenging the ball no matter where it is. This will help make the opponent make their move earlier than when they want so that it is easier to defend. There should be another person on the back wall of the goal in case that the opponents hit the ball high in the air or over the goal. With them on the back wall he will be able to clear the ball and properly transition into offense. The last person will be sitting in the goal in case there is a direct shot onto the net, he will be able to save it.

When your team is on offense it is kind of a different way that you have to position yourself. The person who is on point with the ball will be the one who is usually in front of the team. They are the ones who have to communicate with the rest of the team to let them know if they are going to shoot the ball or if they are going to be passing it. If they are going to be passing the ball then the second person has to be waiting in the middle of the field or in front of the goal to receive the pass. The last person in the team has to be behind those two in the front in case of some booming clear or failed attempt at goal. That is so he is able to save the goal and cost the team a point.

Now once that person passes the ball they have to get out of the play and go to where the defender was at. Then the person who was midfield moves up and is now trying to pass the ball or shoot. The person that was defending now moves up as well waiting in front of the net for the pass. That is how the rotation works in a 3v3 match. Not everyone stays in the same spot the entire game. Everyone has to know when they need to back off of the ball or when to actually go for the ball. Proper communication is key to finding success in the final third and scoring.

There are somewhat a lot of different game modes in Rocket League. They all involve the same thing though, you play soccer with cars that you control. The thing is though is that there are different modes as in not all of the modes involve the same amount of people.

There are four main game modes in the game. The mode that almost everyone in the game plays in called “Doubles.” This mode consists of two teams in which there are two players in each team. Its the most popular game mode in the game because by having only 4 people in the entire map there is a lot of space that is not being used up. When you have too many cars driving around the map it is harder to make solid team plays since there are people always challenging the ball. It is way easier to rotate around the pitch when it’s just you and your teammate because if your teammate is on the ball then you don’t go for the ball; when you are going for the ball then that means your teammate should not go for the ball. Second most played game mode is 3v3 meaning that there are two teams of 3 people. This is the game mode in which the professional players play the most and most tournaments are held. In this mode there is not a lot of room in which you can just drive around since there are a lot of people on the pitch with you. Everything you do has to be picture perfect in order to score since if one person misses you still have two other players you need to deal with. You really want to trust your teammates here because you can’t all be going for the same ball, if that happens then you will leave the net vulnerable and probably get scored on.

The most annoying game mode in the game and possible the most useless one is called “Chaos” and it consists of two teams of 4 people. This game mode is so hectic that you can’t even drive in peace because you are constantly being bumped and killed in the pitch due to the amount of people in the match. I think its useless because you don’t even have fun when you play it, you are constantly trying to evade incoming people.

There are the same game modes in which I just talked about in the previous paragraphs but the thing is that in the next tab if you choose to play here it is called “Ranked” or “Competitive.” When you choose to play in these modes you are playing competitively and are playing at the very best level that is possible for you. People who play this mode are the ones that take the game seriously and want to progress in the game to eventually hit the highest level which is called “Grand Champ.” You definitely don’t want to mess up when playing here because your own teammates will call you out on your mistakes. I personally really like to play 3v3 in the ranked mode. I’m currently “Champ II” which is one rank away from “Grand Champ.” I want to perhaps maybe one day see if I’m good enough to play for a professional team, but that’s in the long run. When you play in the higher ranks you see that your teammates know what they are doing and you learn to trust them more.

The last set of modes that Rocket League has are for the people that just want to mess around and have fun while playing the game. These modes are called “Rumble”, “Dropshot”, “Snow Day”, and “Hoops.” “Rumble” is basically the same thing as the normal 3v3 but the only different thing about this mode is that everyone has different power-ups that they can use during the game. It is a very fun game when you just want to relax and play with friends. “Snow Day” is a 3v3 but instead of having a ball to hit and score it is replaced with a hockey puck. This makes it very easy to score because the hockey puck slides easily and is very fast. “Hoops” is a 2v2 that takes place in a basketball court and you essentially play basketball instead of the usual soccer. It is a good game mode to play when you want to work on flying to the ball.

I added a video of a professional player that goes by the name of “Rizzo” in which he plays “Rumble” with his friends and you can see just how crazy this game mode is.

Believe it or not there are people who play this game professionally as a career. These people are called E-Sport players, the E is for Electronic. Some people think that it’s dumb that this even exists, but I mean it’s America you can do whatever you want for the most part. There are a lot of professional teams as you can see from the picture on top. There 3 teams though in North America that are known as “The Big 3” because they are usually the three best teams in the North America Region.

The first team and the current Rocket League champions are called NRG. They are made up of three players called Jstn, GarettG, and Turbopulsa. These three players are probably the most dominant players in the game currently. They know how to put their opponent under constant pressure without letting them break out of their own half. In Season 5 of the RLCS (Rocket League Championship Series) NRG were one game away from being crowned champions. Unfortunately they lost to another team called Dignitas, who at the time had Tubopulsa on their roster. The next 2 seasons for NRG seemed to be going great, they were the best team in North America and were the favorites to win the title. The thing is that when it comes to playing during the regular season they are good, but when the playoffs start then they start to become shaky. They were disappointing seasons for them. Last season they picked up a new player who is Turbopulsa and in Season 8 they were crowned champions and finally doing what they could not.

The second best team in North America are called G2 Esports. This team consists of the players called JKnaps, Chicago, and Rizzo. This team has always been a very solid team throughout their career in the RLCS. Every season they are competing for the top 3 spots in North America. They are a team that has a very high powered offense. The duo of JKnaps and Chicago is extremely deadly as they are both so skilled and have great chemistry when playing in the final third. Rizzo on the other hand is more of the lays back kind of player. He is the backbone of the team as he is the player that plays most of the defense. In Season 7 they had and incredible run in the regular season and also in the playoffs. Despite all odds they made it to the Grand Finals. Unfortunately though they lost to another team called Renault Vitality. It was such a great season for them. Currently they are the best team in North American sitting at 4 wins and no losses.

The third team in this “Big 3” is called Cloud 9. The Cloud 9 team is also one of the best team in the game. The roster consists of Squishy, Gimmick, and Torment. These players are one of the deadliest teams in the game once they get into rhythm. Cloud 9 were RLCS Champions in Season 6. They had to play against Team Dignitas who were the champions the season before that. In order for Cloud 9 to be crowned champions they had to beat Dignitas in a best of 7 games twice. This task seemed impossible since Dignitas were the best at that time. Despite all odds Cloud 9 beat Dignitas twice and were crowned the champions of Season 6. Currently though they are not doing so good as they are in 7th place sitting at 1 win and 3 losses.

When you start to play Rocket League you will see that when you play online the cars of other players might look different than yours. Some may have flames, others stripes, others could possible have different looking wheels than you. You might ask yourself how it is possible that they do that to their car, while your car is plain looking and has nothing special. Well you can definitely customize your car. The way you do it is by going to the Main Menu then going to Garage. After you hit Garage then you will have 5 options on your screen. You will have to tap on the “Customize Car” option which will then take to you the options that you have when customizing your car.

After you hit the “Customize Car” option will see the many different parts of the car that you are able to customize if you desire. The main one that a lot of people customize is the “Decal.” The “Decal” is kind of the wrap that will be on your car. Like when someone has flames or stripes on their car, that is a “Decal.” There are some limited decals in the games called “Black Market Animated Decal” as shown on the picture above. Those types of decals are the ones that a lot of people like to have because they move around your car and shows how your car is different than others. There are other decals though that are not flashy at all, for example you can have just normal stripes on your car and decide what color the car and stripes are going to be. After you decide what color you want them you can change the paint finish on them. Meaning that you can make the car glossy and then the stripes metallic if you’d like. Many players choose the “Anodized” paint finish since it makes the car very shiny and looks very clean.

Once you decide which “Decal” you like and choose the paint color with paint finish then you are ready to move onto the next part of customization. The next thing you will definitely want to customize are the wheels on your car. There are so many options of wheels. In fact there are more than 50 wheels to choose from. If you want like a simple clean look the best wheels are the “Cristiano” shown on the picture. These wheels are the most basic looking wheels in the game, many players from amateurs to pro’s use these. They go which almost any car. If you want something a bit more flashy then you can look through the entire archive of wheels and choose. A lot of players also use the “White Zombas.” These wheels were said to be the best wheel in the game due to the entire wheel being white which also goes with your car quite well.

Those two things are probably the most basic yet most important things that you will want to customize. They do not help you by making you play better they will at least make you look good while playing the game.

When you start the game up for the first time you will be taken to the main menu where you can choose to play the game, whether it be online with friends or random people, or just yourself. There are other options given there like training, which is very helpful for a player that is just starting because it shows you how to maneuver your car with ease. In my opinion though the most important option that you have in the main menu is the one that says “Garage.” Why is this the most important one? This is the most important one because it is in the “Garage” where you have the ability to customize your own car, make it look exactly how you want it. You don’t want to be just another basic person which a normal looking car playing the game, no you want your car to stand out from the others.

Now, there are so many cars that are provided in the game that maybe you don’t know which one is the car the suits you best. Well I’m going to explain 3 cars that are in the game and how those cars might fit your playstyle.

The car the everyone starts off with at the very beginning of the game is called Octane. The Octane car is the most balanced and basic looking car in the game. This car is compact, fast, and very easy to use around the field when playing the game. The Octane is also one of the taller cars in the game, giving you an advantage when the opponent has hit the ball over your car. That height also helps for when your car is on the wall and the ball is heading your way, thus not making you have to jump off the wall to hit the ball instead you stay there and still hit the ball. If you are going to be the type of player that is going to be careful and not wanting to make many mistakes, not try to hit the ball very hard then the Octane is the car for you.

There is also another car that a lot of players use and it is also a personal favorite called Dominus. The Dominus is the widest and longest car in the game. It helps so much for anything in the game whether it’s for defending, as it covers a lot of the goal, or attacking since you will reach the ball before anyone. This car is for players that like to always be in on the action and being close to the ball to pressure opposing players. Since the Dominus is very rectangular it has a lot of edges which helps so much when hitting the ball. That is because when the ball makes contact which the edges of the Dominus it will be hit at a tremendous speed. If you want to be the player that wants to reach the ball fist and hit very hard then the Dominus is the perfect car for you. Opposing players will think twice when they see that a Dominus is going for the ball.

If you can’t choose between the Octane or Dominus because you like them both so much then there is a car that will suit you well. The car body called Fennec is a hybrid between Octane and Dominus meaning that it’s as if both cars were put together and came to an agreement of how wide and long the car would be. The Fennec has the sharp edges that the Dominus has so if you like power hitting you are still definitely able to do it. It also has a very tall roof so if you liked how tall the octane was then this car helps you with that as well. This car is for people that don’t want to be too aggressive when they play, but also don’t want to be too passive. There has been a huge increase of people using this car because they like both the Octane and Dominus but just can’t pick one. If you want a perfect balance between the Dominus and Octane then the Fennec is the best car for you.
